Public transportation safety is a topic that many Chicagoans are concerned about, especially when it comes to riding the city's CTAs. The perception of safety on these trains and buses can vary significantly among different demographics, with homeless individuals often at the center of the debate.

The "Perception of Safety on Chicago CTAs" website delves into this issue. The objective is to provide a platform for candid discussions on safety perceptions and to shed light on the complex dynamics at play.

Frequency of Encountering Homelessness on Chicago's CTAs During Winter

Our survey gathered insights from 18 respondents on how often they encounter homeless individuals on Chicago's CTAs during the winter months:


Very Often (27.8%) - More than a quarter of respondents frequently see homeless individuals during their transit rides.


Often (16.7%) - A significant portion, approximately one-sixth, also report often encountering homeless individuals.


Sometimes (44.4%) - The largest group, nearly half of the respondents, occasionally observe homeless individuals on the CTA.


Rarely (11.1%) - Only a small fraction seldom come across homeless individuals during their commutes.


Our survey reveals that a majority of transit riders encounter homeless individuals on Chicago's CTAs during the winter, highlighting a significant need for supportive services and interventions.
